Mission Who we are:The Dartmouth Political Union is a nonpartisan, student-run organization dedicated to providing a forum for respectful political discourse on campus. From discussions on important policy issues, to high-profile speaker events, to exciting socials and election-night watch parties, the DPU is the best place on campus to talk and learn about politics in a cordial and low-stress environment. What we do: The DPU has weekly meetings in which we discuss pressing political issues in a lively and intellectually engaging environment. In the 2022 Fall term, these meetings will typically be held on Thursdays at 7pm in Carson 60. We also host a termly speaker series, in which we invite leaders and politicians of all political stripes to speak at Dartmouth. Our past speakers include, to name a few: John Deutch (former CIA director); Noam Chomsky (famed intellectual and the father of Linguistics); Glenn Greenwald (investigative journalist); Peter Boghossian (philosopher and pedagogist); and Nadya Tolokonnikova (Russian political activist). Finally, we host a termly debate among students or faculty members on a pressing political topic. Most recently, we hosted a student debate on abortion, inviting undergraduates to participate on the debate panel or ask critical questions as audience members.
